In this lesson we will study mammals names in english. It is really important for me because I love animals and want to have a dog when I grow up. In English, animals have unique names that can be different among encyclopedias created by different authors. We will study the most common mammals in English.

Squirrel
A squirrel is a small or medium-sized rodent. Squirrels are members of the family Sciuridae, a family that includes small or medium-size rodents. The squirrel family includes tree squirrels, ground squirrels, chipmunks, marmots (including woodchucks), flying squirrels, and prairie dogs amongst other rodents
Dog
Dog is a domesticated form of the gray wolf, a member of the Canidae family of the mammal. The term “dog” also includes the subspecies of wolves and jackals.
Chimpanzee
Chimpanzees are apes and one of the two species making up the genus Pan. The Congo River forms a boundary between the native habitats of these two species: Common Chimpanzees, found south of the river, have been studied more thoroughly than the Pygmy Chimpanzee.
Giraffes
The giraffe is an African even-toed ungulate mammal, the tallest living terrestrial animal and the largest ruminant. Its chief distinguishing characteristics are its extremely long neck and legs, its horn-like ossicones, and its distinctive coat patterns.
Mice
Mouse is a small rodent characteristically having a pointed snout, small rounded ears, a body-length scaly tail and a high breeding rate. The best known mouse species is the common house mouse (Mus musculus). It is also a popular pet.
Walrus
The walrus is a large flippered marine mammal with a discontinuous distribution about the North Pole in the Arctic Ocean and subarctic seas of the Northern Hemisphere. The walrus is the only living species in the family Odobenidae and genus O.
Goat
A goat is a mammal of the genus Capra (Latin for “ibex”). It is closely related to the sheep as both are in the goat-antelope subfamily Caprinae.
Tiger
The tiger is the largest cat species, most recognizable for their pattern of dark vertical stripes on reddish-orange fur with a lighter underside.
Kitten
A kitten is the baby form of the domestic cat. Kittens are cute, adorable and really playful. It is fun to play with them because they always attract our attention with their meows and funny gestures.
Horse
Horse is a large domesticated ungulate. The horse has been used for riding and working purposes from the ancient times to the modern day especially in warfare.
Monkey
Monkey is a primate and one of the most intelligent. Monkeys usually live in trees and they spend their lives moving from branch to branch, finding fruit or nuts to eat, leaping from tree to tree and hanging on branches with their tails.
Cat
The cat (Felis catus) is a small predatory mammal. Cats typical hunt small prey such as birds and rodents. Cats are often valued by humans for companionship and their ability to hunt vermin.
Lion
The lion is one of the big cats in the genus Panthera and a member of the family Felidae. The commonly used term African lion collectively denotes the several subspecies in Africa.
Donkey
Donkey or ass is a domestic mammal. The donkey has been used as a working animal for at least 5000 years. Domesticated donkeys are also used as pack animals and for riding.
Rabbit
A rabbit, usually called simply a bunny, is any of the several species of lagomorphs within the genus Lepus. The name “rabbit” usually applies to all genera in the family except Lepus. Bunny is commonly applied informally to the lagomorphs more often than to members of other families within the order Lagomorpha, such as hares and pikas.
Fox
A fox is a medium-sized canid native to much of North and Central Asia, as well as closely adjoining parts of Western Europe. Other species of the genus Vulpes include thecorsac fox,Vulpes vulpes., Rüppell’s fox Vulpes rueppelli,the Tibetan sand fox, Vulpes ferrilata, and Blanford’s fox.

Elephant

Sheep
A sheep is a member of the genus Ovis, within the family Bovidae. Sheep are generally farmed for their meat, milk, and fiber.
Fox
The fox is a mammal of the Canidae family. The fox is a small-sized dog that has a narrow torso and bushy tail. They have sharp claws and pointed muzzles to grasp their prey.
Elephant
The Asian elephant or Indian elephant is the only living species of the genus Elephas and distributed in Southeast Asia, from India to Indonesia. They are land mammals in South Asia, mainly found in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Thailand.
Marmot
A marmot is a member of the squirrel family. In North America, marmots usually live in mountainous areas.
Fox
A fox is a medium-sized canine with long bushy tail and sharp claws to help them climb on trees. They are omnivores that feed on plants as well as small animals like mice and birds.
Otter
An otter is any one of thirteen species of semiaquatic mammals in the subfamily Lutrinae. The 13 extant otter species are all semiaquatic, aquatic or marine, with diets based on fish and invertebrates.
Kangaroo
A kangaroo is a marsupial from the family Macropodidae. In common use the term is used to describe the largest species from this family, especially those of the genus Macropus: the red kangaroo, antilopine kangaroo and eastern grey kangaroo.
Mole
Moles are small mammals adapted to a subterranean lifestyle. They have cylindrical bodies; velvety fur; very small, inconspicuous ears and eyes; reduced hindlimbs and short strong forelimbs with large paws adapted for digging.
